　　Sport for persons with a physical disability was introduced after World War II, with its large number of injured servicemen, women and civilians. In researching new methods to minimize the consequences of their disabililties, it provided a new possibility for reviving the idea of sport as a way of treatment and rehabilitation.

　　残疾人体育于二战后出现，大部分参与者都是伤残军人和平民。在寻求将身体残疾最小化的新方法的同时，残疾人体育以治疗和康复的方式为体育理念的复兴提供了新的可能。
