　　In sprint racing the starting gun is electronically wired up to the timing system. Once the trigger is pulled, a signal starts the clock and the sound is relayed to the athletes via loudspeakers behind every set of blocks. This is to ensure that runners furthest from the gun are not at a disadvantage. The blocks themselves are wired up. If an athlete breaks early this can be easily recorded.

　　短跑比赛中，电线将发令枪和计时系统连在一起。一旦扣动扳机，将有信号启动计时表，同时通过安置在起跑器后面的扩音器将发令声音传递给运动员。这就可以确保距离发令枪最远的运动员不会处于起泡劣势。起跑器也是连着电线的，如果有运动员抢跑，就可以被起跑器轻而易举地记录下来。
