　　1980 Moscow Boycott

　　After Soviet tanks rolled into Afghanistan in 1979, U.S. President Jimmy Carter called for the U.S. team to boycott the 1980 Moscow Olympics, saying that the Soviet invasion violated "the principles of the Olympics". Carter also pledged to revoke the passports of U.S. athletes who went to the Games, backing the boycott with the force of law.

　　Afterward, the USOC voted to boycott the Games.

　　1980年莫斯科抵制事件

　　1979年前苏联的坦克开进了阿富汗之后，美国总统吉米-卡特号召美国队抵制1980年莫斯科奥运会，声称前苏联的侵略行为违背了“奥运会原则”。卡特还发誓要吊销去参加莫斯科奥运会的美国运动员的护照，要用法律的力量来支持这次抵制。

　　之后，美国奥委会投票表决抵制了莫斯科奥运会。
