Latin American media, authorities hail Beijing Olympics

      MEXICO CITY, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Latin American authorities and media described on Sunday the 29th Olympic Games of Beijing as unforgettable, for its performance without contretemps and the greatness of its opening and closing ceremonies.

      "After the Olympic flame turned off, China gets a grade of 10," Mexican sports commentator Jose Ramon Fernandez said.

      China won the Olympic Games in an spectacular and brilliant way, with sportsmen of high-level, a great organization an impeccable security, Latin American media said.

      Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said, "China made the best Olympics of the history."

      During his TV and radio program "Alo Presidente", Chavez said the organization was perfect and he hailed the happiness and calm clime around the Olympic Games.

      President of the Panamanian Federation of Athletics Ricardo Sasso said, "These have been one of the best Olympic Games."

      President of the State's Panamanian Institute of sports (Pandeportes) Ramon Cardoze said, "The closing ceremony was excellent and extraordinary."

      Member of the directive counsel of the Panamanian Baseball Federation Leo Alvarado said that the closing ceremony was worthy of these sportive ceremonies.

      "This will be an unforgettable ceremony for Panamanians," Alvarado said.

      Mexican commentator Paco Gabriel de Anda from the sports supplement "Adrenalina" of the daily Excelsior said that China organized the best Olympics of the history, because "regarding their organization, inauguration and closure they have made us to be excited till the tears."

      Uruguayan local radio station "El Espectador" there were "16 days of emotions" since the turning on of the Olympic flame till the closing.

      Latin American commentators said that after the greatness of Beijing 2008, the end of the games produced nostalgia, which was compensated by the joy in London to host the coming Games.

      Media also hailed Chinese film director Zhang Yimou for the opening and closing ceremony at the Bird's Nest in Beijing.

      Mexican TV private chain Television Azteca said that the Bird's Nest is already part of the world sports history.

      Television Azteca said that the closing ceremony "was another party of perfection, aesthesis and it was memorable."

      Nicaraguan media hailed Chinese supremacy at the Olympic medal board by adding 51 gold medals, 21 silver and 28 bronze, making a total of 100.

      Nicaraguan official radio station "La Nueva Radio Ya" said that Olympic "gold medals worth more and China has won more gold medals than U.S," the radio station said.

      Nicaraguan electronic daily "El Observador" said that Beijing finished the Olympics "with another amazing" ceremony which had "memorable perfect aesthesis."
