BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Olympic slogan of "One world, One dream" should be realized by all people, said He Zhenliang, former vice president of the International Olympic Committee, here on Saturday.

He is also the chairman of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Education, honorary chairman of China's Olympic Committee and executive member of the Beijing Organizing Committee for Olympic Games (BOCOG).

When addressing the exchange ceremony of two giant paintings of environmental protection, each worked by over 1,000 children from China and the United States, He called on all the people to protect the only one world and to join hands to realize the dream, which he depicted as "peace, friendship and harmony between man and nature."

He said environment is among the three dimensions of the Olympic Games, and the IOC has been always attaching great importance to the environment issues.

One of the three important ideas that Beijing proposed from the very beginning when starting its bid for the Olympic Games is the Green Olympics, He pointed out, saying he hoped that people could promote and realize the idea of Green Olympics.

"There are no difference of VIPs and others, of men and women, of adults and children here, but we just share one same identity with same love of our earth and environment," He said.

Also on the day, Steve Creech, program director of the Wyland Foundation, told Xinhua that "The environment has no political boundary and the same with sports and Olympics."

"Children do not know politics," Creech said, adding "Children from different countries could come together and become friends."
