South Korean president confirmed to attend Beijing Olympic's opening ceremony

    SEOUL, April 25 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak will attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, said a spokesman for the president Friday.

    Lee has decided to attend the opening ceremony on Aug. 8 in Beijing to show his support for the event, the spokesman told Xinhua.

    Lee said on Japanese TBS TV channel Monday that he will attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games as the Olympics are a symbol of peace.

    The president will stick to his stance on the Beijing Olympics, the spokesman added.
