Canada, China and Russia to the Men's K4 1000m final

  (BEIJING, August 20) -- The last three semifinal spots of the Canoe/Kayak Men's Flatwater Kayak Four (K4) 1000 meter were decided in the semifinal on Wednesday, August 20.

  The Russian team led the race from start to end, taking first place with a time of 3:00.459 minutes. Their four kayakers are Ilya Medvedev, Evgeny Salakhov, Anton Vasilyev and Konstantin Vishnyakov.

  The Chinese team comprised of Li Zhen, Liu Haitao, Zhou Peng and Lin Miao finished 1.328 seconds behind the Russians.

  Canada's team, which consists of Brady Reardon, Angus Mortimer, Chris Pellini and Rhys Hill, placed third with a time of 3:02.572 minutes.

  The Australian team led by veteran Clint Robinson failed to make the final.

  The other finalists who directly qualified from the preliminary heats are Belarus, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Slovenia. The final will take place on Friday, August 22.
