(BEIJING, August 20) -- World champions the Netherlands outplayed Argentina 5-2 to enter their second consecutive final of the Olympic Women's Hockey competition on Wednesday, August 20.

In the final to be played on Friday, August 22, the Netherlands take on China who stunned champions Germany 3-2 in the other semifinal.

Spearheading the Dutch victory was Maartje Paumen who converted three penalty corners in the ninth, 26th and 47th minutes to take her tally to 11 goals in the competition. Paumen was aided by Marilyn Agliotti and Ellen Hoog who scored in the 31st and 68th minutes.

Argentina were subdued for much of the match, but they showed some spark in the second half as Marine Russo and Alejandro Gulla scored, but by then the match had slipped from their grasp.

The Netherlands played as a cohesive unit, dictated terms from the start and once they went into the lead, there was only one way the match could go.

Argentina, winners of the 2008 Champions Trophy tournament, were barely visible in terms of sparkle or fight with the exception of Luciana Aymar who gave glimpses of her talent, but tended to be too individualistic to be effective.

The Netherlands, despite holding the upper hand, did not make haste and it helped them to methodically build up strong attacks in contrast to the individual runs of the Argentine forwards.

Towards close, the Dutch merely sat back and rode the feeble punches Argentina delivered. The two goals that Argentina scored only reflected what might have been had they showed greater urgency and co-ordination.
