Greece beats Australia for seventh place in Men's Water Polo

  (BEIJING, August 24) - - Greece upset Australia 9-8 for seventh place in the Men's Water Polo tournament at Yingdong Natatorium on Sunday.

  Australia was unable to grab its second win from Greece after defeating them earlier in the competition 12-8.

  Pietro Figlioli scored the first goal of the match for Australia, taking advantage of a Greek mistake and swimming it in for the goal. Australia seemed sharp and ready to take the seventh-place spot in the competition.

  But Greece ended up winning the first quarter 3-2 and playing level in the second 2-2.

  Australia had a burst of energy at the start of the second half and took the lead 7-6, with Richie Campbell netting an extra-man advantage with just four seconds left on the clock.

  Greece tied the game at 7-7, when Anastasios Schizas put away his second goal of the game for Greece. Campbell gave his team hope with a counter-attack goal but Greece scored the next two goals to end at 9-8.

  Greece's leading goal scorer, Georgios Ntoskas, with 20 goals, had two five-meter penalty attempts blocked by Australian goalkeeper James Stanton.
