Germany and Greece get thumbs up for Olympics men’s water polo

 

    BEIJING, March 7 -- At the halfway point of the water polo men's Olympic qualification tournament, Germany and Greece have already secured their spots for the August Games.

    On Thursday, March 6, in the Romanian city of Oradea, Germany tied Italy 5-5, while Greece defeated opponent Russia 8-6. With these results, Germany and Greece became the top two teams in their respective groups in this competition. As such, they already qualify for the Olympic Games.

    According to competition rules, the first four ranked squads will qualify for the 2008 Olympics.

    China has already qualified for the Olympic Games, as have the United States, Hungary, Spain, Serbia, Australia, and Montenegro.
