Russian Zykina takes women's 400 meters world indoor title

    VALENCIA, Spain, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Olesya Zykina won Russia's fourth consecutive world indoor title in women's 400 meters after sprinting to victory at the 12th IAAF World Indoor Championships Sunday in Valencia, Spain, clocking in a world leading time of 51.09 seconds.

    Her compatriot Natal Nazarova won the silver medal with a time of 51.10, and American Shareese Woods got the bronze medal with 51.41.

    Antonina Yefremova of Ukraine, Angela Morosanu of Romania and American Moushaumi Robinson finished fourth to sixth respectively.

    The three-day Valencia indoor worlds, which kicked off on Friday, will conclude on Sunday.

    A total of 646 athletes from 157 countries and regions are participating in the tournament, the last major athletics event before the August Olympic Games in Beijing.
