(BEIJING, August 13) -- On August 13, Badminton Women's Doubles World No. 3 Du Jing and Yu Yang won a spot at the final at the expense of their compatriots, World No. 2 Wei Yili and Zhang Yawen. Du and Yu controlled the match throughout. In the first game they established an early lead of 11-5. Wei and Zhang fought back and regained lead at 18-17. However, Du and Yu held their nerve and took the game 21-19. The second game was even easier for Du and Yu as they built up a sizeable 18-10 lead and went on winning the game 21-12. One of the points took 81 strokes to settle, the most exiting rally in this semifinal. With the early exit of defending champions Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewei, Du and Yu are the only hope for China to win this gold medal. Their opponents will be World No. 4 Lee Hyo-jung and Lee Kyung-won of the Republic of Korea. The final will take place at 9:30 p.m. (UTC/GMT +8) on August 15.
