Bryan Clay tops Decathlon High Jump

  (BEIJING, August 21) -- Bryan Clay of the United States still remains in the top position for the Decathlon after the High Jump -- the fourth of 10 Decathlon disciplines.

  Clay, silver medalist at Athens 2004, scored 794 points after jumping 1.99m. He has attained a total of 3,656 points for the first four disciplines.

  Ranked second is Alexander Pogorelov from Russia, with a total of 3,510 points. He cleared 2.08m in the High Jump for 878 points.

  Trey Hardee of the United States kept his third place position from the previous discipline, with 3,507 points after jumping 2.05m for 850 points.

  Decathlon world record holder and reigning world and Olympic champion, Roman Sebrle of the Czech Republic, moved up to sixth place, at 3,476 after scoring 906 points with a jump of 2.11m. Sebrle set the world record seven years ago with a final score of 9,026.

  The fifth discipline of the Decathlon, the 400m, will be held at 10:00 p.m. (UTC/GMT +8) at the National Stadium.
