BEIJING, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian weightlifter Igor Razoronov has been expelled from the Beijing Olympics after failing a doping test, the International Olympic Committee said on Saturday.

The 33-year-old Ukrainian tested positive for the steroid nandrolone after finishing sixth in the 105-kilogram division Monday, the IOC said in a statement.

The IOC asked the international weightlifting federation to adjust the competition results and consider any further sanctions. Razoronov faces a two-year ban from the sport.

Razoronov was the sixth athlete caught for doping during the Aug.8-24 games. Others disqualified for doping during the games were Greek hurdler Fani Halkia, DPR Korean shooter Kim Jong Su, Spanish cyclist Isabel Moreno, Vietnamese gymnast Thi Ngan Thuong Do and another Ukrainian, Lyudmila Blonska.

Blonska had been stripped of her heptathlon silver medal and Kim stripped of silver and bronze medals.
